Awards and Closing Ceremony of IV INSTAR Film Festival
The jury of the IV INSTAR Film Festival announces the winner of the Nicolás Guillén Landrián Award, which is given to the film that best addresses, from the cinematographic language, a taboo subject in its corresponding society. The event closes with the presence of its Executive Director and Artistic Director.

Pájares: Talk about cinema and dissident identities.
Sexual and identity dissidences have not only been historically discriminated against in Cuban social life, but also in its cinema. But little by little they have gained a space in the national cinematography, especially from the point of view of young independent filmmakers with the desire to tell their stories.
The supernatural and horror in all its variants also have their place in Latin American and Caribbean cinema. Even zombies were born from a Haitian belief. In this talk, Alejandro Brugués, Jorge Molina, Alejandro Fadel, Miguel Coyula, Adrián García and José Luis Aparicio share their thoughts on the subject.
How do Cuban independent filmmakers “move” their films? What distribution circuits do they use? Some of these filmmakers debated on this topic: Boris Prieto, Ivonne Cotorruelo, Daniela Muñoz Barroso and Maria Nela Labeque. The conversation was hosted by the philologist Sindy Rivery.
Migratory waves have not only marked Cuba's post-1959 history, but also its cinema. In fact, it could be said that there are stories of Cubans, told by Cubans, in many parts of the world. The stories of emigration, like emigration itself, transcend all borders and are always present in the national imaginary.
