Synopsis

Feeling unprepared to play the role of a 15-year-old pregnant girl living on the outskirts of Santo Domingo, an actress decides to sit down with pregnant teenagers all over the country. Throughout the process, as the girls lay out the stories of their lives on camera, they start to influence the production of the film itself, changing its course.

About the director

Victoria Linares Villegas

Victoria Linares is a Dominican filmmaker whose interests lie in telling queer stories regarding transgenerational trauma and sociopolitical oppression. Her shorts have screened at New Orleans Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, and Shorts México, among others. Her debut non-fiction film It Runs in the Family (2022) has been an official selection at True/False, BFI Flare and Outfest LA. The film has won the Best Documentary Award at the Fine Arts Film Festival in Dominican Republic and the Best New Director by the Youth Jury at the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival. Her latest film Ramona (2023) had its world premiere at Berlinale 2023. She is the recipient of the True Vision Award 2023 at the True/False Film Fest.
